New proposal
12 - 26 April 2026
No opening reception. Just the pleasure of a new hanging, ‘Ordinary Kitchens’.
‘La tarte au citron’, the biggest painting ever made by Matthieu Livrieri will be on view.
This new proposal is focused on the kitchen as a space, and why is it so important for Matthieu to pay tribute
to the places he lives in.
It isn’t beautiful, but it isn’t ugly. Matthieu’s “kitchen” is not the hidden kitchen of centuries past, nor is it that contemporary “open-concept” kitchen, a stage and the heart of our modern homes.
Curiously, there is no one in his kitchens, yet life is present. Plants grow slowly. The dishes are never done. A lemon tart waits, loaves of bread still lie here and there. His kitchens are cobbled together. Nothing is built-in. You can sense that these are the kitchens of ordinary people, that they are the kitchens of dreamy thinkers and romantics.
