Discovering Matthieu’s work, I was immediately struck by his use of color both extravagant and tender,
yet discreet. The chosen colors seem glad to exist, interacting harmoniously with one another.
Their naive, effortless quality, yet confident presence, instantly captivated me.
When I got my first paintings from him, I understood that their full potential was revealed within my home in a living room, a kitchen, or even a bathroom.
They live intensely with the space, entering into perfect symbiosis with it.
As I delved deeper into the artist, I realized that his works are an extension of his hand, his identity.
They perfectly reflect who Matthieu is.
As I got to know him, it became clear to me that while his work is constantly evolving, it is also complete in its own way. He never aims for a final goal. He simply paints, and will continue to do so.
